Course schedule
Textbook:     Essential Calculus. Early Transcendentals   by James Stewart, published by Thomson Brooks/Cole in 2007.

Homework policy:
Math TA help sections:   Monday through Thursday, 4:30--7:30 pm, at Clements Hall, Room 225.

Exams:     There will be three midterm exams (in-class, 50 minutes). All students are expected to take exams on time . Exceptions are granted only with acceptable reasons and with permission from the instructor. There will be a 3-hour comprehensive final on a university scheduled date. For all the exams: No calculators, books, lectures notes are allowed. But you can use a formula sheet that you prepare for the exams. (The formula sheet is not to exceed 1 page, size A4, you can write on both sides).

Educational outcomes:  
    Minimum requirements include being able to do the following
  1. Compute dot and cross products and manipulate vectors in 2-d and 3-d.
  2. Find equations of lines and planes that satisfy given conditions in 3-d.
  3. Compute partial derivatives.
  4. Solve optimization problems in multi-dimensions.
  5. Compute double integrals and triple integrals (in various coordinates); compute line integrals.
