Postdoctoral Position Available

A one-year postdoctoral research associate position is available immediately in the Department of Chemistry at Southern Methodist University to study pattern formation in nonstandard reaction-diffusion systems. The candidate will be involved in theoretical and numerical studies of the spatiotemporal dynamics of reaction-subdiffusion systems, inhomogeneous and heterogeneous reaction-diffusion systems, or networks of coupled reactors. The ideal candidate should have a recent PhD in a relevant discipline with a strong mathematical or computational background. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in one of the following areas: continuous-time random walks, fractional diffusion equations, reaction-transport equations. Experience with Mathematica and programming skills are expected.

Please send to Prof. W. Horsthemke via email (files in PDF format only), or by postal mail, a letter of application describing your background, a CV with a list of publications, a brief description of research interests, and arrange to have two letters of recommendation sent. Review of applications will begin October 1, 2008, but applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
