I followed the same procedures here for each instrument,
so I can make some generalizations about brass instruments. I covered trumpet,
trombone, and tuba when I did my
testing so I could make generalizations about brass instruments.
The generalized data went something like this.
Bright sounds had more harmonics than dark sounds did.
Bright sounds tended to have harmonics that resonated around 3000 Hz
This is the same frequency as where your inner ear resonates.
Sounds that were made with poor technicals had fewer harmonics
They also tended to have fuzzy regions where the harmonics came in a
large block instead of having evenly spaced harmonics.
