In this view the chain is shown as "Backbone". The Hydrogen bonds between backbone groups are shown as dotted lines. The red half is connected to an oxygen, while the blue half is connected to a nitrogen. Jmol misidentifies some Hbonds, where they do not actually exist, e.g along a beta-strand. It also seems to miss a few. In the next section we will focus on Hbonding within the elements of secondary structure. To focus on a particular Hbond try zooming and moving the image. Clicking on an atom will identify the atom and residue. |
