MIS 6386 COMPUTER Evaluation ASSIGNMENT

Scenario


You plan to purchase a computer for your company. You are interested in learning about the overall quality of each vendor and also how well each meets your computing, communicating, cost/performance and support needs. A friend has suggested that you consider the following four web pages:
  1. Apple.................. www.apple.com
  2. DEC ....................www.dec.com
  3. HP .......................www.hp.com
  4. IBM .....................www.ibm.com

Required

1. Visit each of the above web sites and find the information you are looking for. Make notes about your experience as you navigate the pages. Bring your notes to class with you on Thursday.

2. Evaluate each of the web sites as follows:
a. Click on Ecommerce Survey to go http://www.smu.edu/~gyedinak/ecomform.html

b. Complete the survey for each of the sites. In the box labeled "URL of Web Site" put either Apple, DEC, HP, IBM depending on which you are evaluating. Evaluate all four one at a time. Submit the forms.

3. Come to class prepared to discuss your evaluations. This will provide valuable background for discussing the Digital Equipment Case at "http://www.cox.smu.edu/mis/cases/dec/internet.html."
