Tzintzuntzan Aerial Photos -- 2a

Description: This aerial photo shows Tzintzuntzan (cabecera municipal), the adjacent community of Ojo de Agua (to the east), as well as  Colonia Lázaro Cárdenas and Colonia Tzintzuntzita, both located about 2 kms. to the south on the highway to Pátzcuaro.  The "urban area" of Tzintzuntzan  follows the grid-plan imposed by the Spanish colonists in the sixteenth century.  The adjacent archaeological zone known locally as the Yácatas (see the large rectangular structure just southeast of Tzintzuntzan.  At the top (north) of the photo is the margin of Lake Pátzcuaro.
