Review for Final Exam & Second Map QuizFall term, 2005The final examination will be administered in 119 Fondren Science at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, 6 December. You must sit for this exam at the time scheduled. A grade of "I" is reserved for emergencies. The final is worth 30% of the course grade. It will be divided into two portions, an essay portion and an objective portion, each worth 15% of the course grade. The objective portion will include 42 fill-in-the-blank questions worth 2 points each and 16 map identifications worth one point each. The exam will cover all that we have studied from October 18 to December 7 with the exception of Tocqueville’s Democracy in America and the 8:30 lecture on October 18. You should also review pages 1-8 of your SourceBook. You must pay particular attention to "Hard Times" and "Major Barbara." Both films have been placed on reserve at the Media Center. The essay portion of this test will ask you to respond to one of the two following topics. The staff will determine the topic. The first topic will ask you to discuss revitalization movements, a concept introduced by Mr. Phinney on November 8. In addition to the revitalization movements discussed in that lecture you must be prepared to discuss the Taiping, the Salvation Army, Feminism, Marxism, and Democratic Socialism. You may be asked to examine the causes as well as the consequences of these movements. The second topic will ask you to think about the Industrial Revolution as one of the great transformations of world history. Again, you will need to think of both causes and consequences of this revolution. Both topics will require you to respond to several questions, just as you did on the take-home essays. ================================= Map QuizYou will be asked to locate 16 of the places listed below on a map (provided in class on November 22nd).
