Upon graduation from law school in 1968 I became legal adviser to the Ethiopian Ministry of Commerce & Industry for two years. I then served as a lecturer in law at the university in Addis Ababa, before continuing my studies at the L.S.E. and Yale. Since joining the law faculty at S.M.U. in 1974, I have been a visiting professor at the University of Texas, Berkeley, U.C.L.A., William & Mary, and the University of Pennsylvania. Most recently, I was a visiting scholar at Georgetown Law School during my sabbatical in 1995.
