Re: Election of Secretary and Treasurer for 2003-2005
The terms of the current secretary (M. Bianconi) and
treasurer (H. Thompson)
will end in early January 2003.
In accordance with the by-laws, I have
consulted with the current Executive Committee of the IEFS and the
Executive Committee has unanimously decided to act
as the nominating committee for new
Secretary and Treasurer to
serve in the three year period of 2003-2005.
In the next 8 (eight) weeks or so, we ask for your input
in identifying candidates
for Secretary and Treasurer. Broad guidelines for nominations are that
candidates should be tenured and located in North American institutions.
Please, send your comments, suggestions and nominations directly to
any member of the IEFS Executive Committee:

The duties of the Secretary and Treasurer are broadly as follows:
Secretary: Conducts the academic and regular business of the
society and is the Program Chair of the scientific program
of the society (including organizing sessions at the ASSA-AEA
meetings and other regional meetings and conferences); hosts and
maintains the IEFS web site, arranges receptions at meetings etc.

Treasurer: Responsible for the financial matters of the society,
including bank account with society funds, managing and recording
membership, receiveing and processig membership dues, disbursment
