To: Current Members of the International Economics and Finance Society

(IEFS) - 10/16/2001

From: M. Bianconi, IEFS Secretary

In the beginning of the calendar year, Prof. Peter Neary has

formed a committee to search for the new IEFS president

for 2003-2004. The committee was chaired by R. Jones from

U. Rochester and included B. Spencer from UBC, E. Yu from CUHK

and A. Glass from OSU.

The committee has nominated Prof. Wilfred Ethier

from U. Penn to be the next president-elect for 2001-2002

and president for 2003-2004.

On behalf of the IEFS executive committee, I have

thanked and congratulated the committee for its dedicated

work and excellent choice.

I'll be running the election and

will be sending you a ballot by-email in the next few weeks.

According to Article 6 of the by-laws,

any other person may be included in the ballot if nominated by three

percent (3%) or more of the membership.

I also want to take this opportunity to include in the ballot

some proposed changes in the IEFS by-laws. I'll be sending you

an e-mail with the proposed changes as soon as possible.

Thanks for your attention and, please, feel free to send me questions

or comments.

Best Regards.
