Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment of Panic Disorder (recruitment ongoing)
The SMU Anxiety Research & Treatment program is conducting a study of the treatment of panic disorder. Participants in this study will receive free cognitive-behavioral therapy. In addition, participants will be assigned at random (like flipping a coin) to receive an experimental medication or a placebo medication.

People may participate in this study if they have a history of repeated, "out of the blue" panic attacks and are very fearful of having another panic attack or have altered their lifestyle to avoid having future panic attacks.

Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment of Social Anxiety Disorder (recruitment ongoing)
The SMU Anxiety Research & Treatment program, in collaboration with Boston University and Harvard Medical School, is conducting a study of the treatment of social anxiety disorder. Participants in this study will receive free cognitive-behavioral therapy. In addition, participants will be assigned at random (like flipping a coin) to receive an experimental medication or a placebo medication.

People may participate in this study if they fear being in the center of attention and if this fear of social situations has caused significant interference with their lives.

Physical Activity Interventions for Smoking Cessation (recruitment ongoing)
The SMU Anxiety Research & Treatment program is conducting a study investigating physical activity interventions for smoking cessation. Participants in this study will receive free exercise-based treatment.

People may participate in this study if they have been smoking for the past year (at least 10 cigarettes per day) and do not engage in regular exercise .
