Mission People News Research Publications Links Contact The Anxiety Research & Treatment Program is affiliated with the Psychology Department at Southern Methodist University. The primary objective of the program is to increase the effectiveness of interventions for anxiety disorders. A secondary aim is to disseminate effective anxiety disorder treatments to the general community as well as the mental health professional community.
In order to guide the development of effective anxiety disorder treatment and intervention strategies, some of our studies are designed to help us better understand how anxiety disorders develop and subside. To that end, we investigate potential risk factors, potential predictors of treatment response and potential mechanisms by which treatments may exert their effects. Other ongoing investigations at the SMU Anxiety Research & Treatment Program directly evaluate the effectiveness of novel interventions for anxiety disorders.
Participating in any of these investigations involves a mutually beneficial relationship with the SMU Anxiety Research & Treatment Program. Participants will be adequately compensated for their time and efforts devoted to helping us learn more about the nature and treatment of anxiety disorders. Depending on the study, participants may receive monetary remuneration, comprehensive diagnostic interviews and assessments at no cost, or treatment at no cost.
Ongoing research projects are listed on the research page, and reports of recently completed studies can be found on the publications page. Please contact us at 214.768.4310 or anxiety@smu.edu if you are interested in participating in one of our studies
