Individual Political Action Assignment

Though we won't get to questions of political ideology and political parties until a bit later in the semester, I call your attention to the surveys below now because we are in the "lightest" period of reading of the semester.  As such, it might behoove you to do these surveys now, send me the results, and print up your results for our class discussion of them next month. 

To facilitate our discussion of the dimensions of political ideology, and their correlation with partisan preferences, please

• take the Political Compass and quizzes at USA Today (candidate match game), and Party Matchmaking,
• email me your scores/results on all, and
• print up hard copy of your scores and the interpretive information the sites provide for later when when we treat political ideology.

Don't game the quizzes.  Answer the questions honestly.  They are designed to make you make "hard choices."  Where you find yourself between two answers, go with the one that most closely approximates how you feel or what you think about the question asked.

All individual-level responses will be held in confidence, though I will print up distribution information.  I will also take the quizzes and add my results to the printed distributions.
