Red=Restricted enrollment, Department permission needed, contact Prof. Harris (iharris@smu.edu), with YOUR ID NUMBER.

2)      How do I enroll in STAT 3304, STAT 4370 or STAT 4377?

These courses have a restricted enrollment due to classroom size, and space constraints. Priority is given to students who need these courses to graduate during the 2017-18 AY. STAT majors should contact Prof. Harris (WITH their ID) to request permission to register for these courses. Registration is not guaranteed.

3)      I already have taken STAT 5371 (and/or 5372), and want to take STAT 3300. Is this ok?

No, you should not take 3300 if you have already taken 5371 and/or 5372. This course (3300) is at a much lower level. We will administratively drop students who register for 3300 if we find they already have 5371 and/or 5372.

4)      I need to enroll in STAT 4350 (ECO 5350), can you help me?

This course is administered by the Economics department, so you should check with the Economics advisors for help here.

5)      What happened to STAT 5372 (or STAT 5304)?

See the section below on 6000 level courses.

We are offering the following courses at the 6000 level. These courses are open to certain UG majors, subject to restrictions and approval. You will need department permission to enroll.

No, they are for PhD students.

7)      Help, I need STAT 5372 but it is not offered, what do I do?

This course has been renumbered as STAT 6303. Starting fall 2017 it is no longer a required course for the B.S. in Statistical Science. If you are following an earlier catalog (2016 or prior), you may still need this course.

Please use the following decision tree to help you decide what to do.
