The following tables give examples of possible course plans for a Statistical Science B.S. major following the latest (2016-17) catalog. Note that these are just examples, not an exhaustive list of all possible ways to complete the 42 hours required for the major. Also, no information is given related to the UC or other SMU requirements.

Three tracks are given; the first is a “regular” track for someone who wants training in statistics;  the second is suitable for those double majoring in Statistics and Mathematics, or thinking of getting the MASDA degree in a 5th year;  the third would be suitable for a student double majoring in Statistics and Economics.

Important note: In order to take advanced STAT courses (3000+), you must first be a declared STAT major or minor. The exception to this is STAT 4340, which can be taken by anyone with the Calculus 2 (1338) pre-requisite.
