Course Expectations

Behavior: Arrive on time, be prepared to sit for as long as 90 minutes without a break. Tend to your bodily needs before class or during breaks. No food or drink is allowed in the auditorium. No web-enabled machines may be used. All assignments must be read before the class for which they are assigned and in which they will be discussed. There may be random quizzes and if so, you will know why. Be here when you are here.

Academic Ethics: Students are expected to hold themselves and each other to the standards outlined in the SMU Honor Code (http://smu.edu/studentlife/PCL_05_HC.asp).

Disability accommodations: SMU Students who need academic accommodations for a disability must first contact Rebecca Marin, Coordinator, Services for Students with Disabilities (214-768-4563), to verify the disability and establish eligibility for accommodations. Then please schedule an appointment with the professor to make appropriate arrangements (see SMU University Policy No. 2.4). Arrangements must be made in advance of scheduled work.

Religious observance: Religiously observant students who wish to be absent on holidays that require missing class should notify the instructor in writing at the beginning of the semester and should discuss in advance with the professor acceptable ways of making up any work missed because of the absence (for SMU, see University Policy No. 1.9).

Excused absences for extracurricular activities: Class comes first.  Come on time; stay until end. Attendance will be monitored. For this course, no SMU or UTD student has any excused absence for extracurricular activities.  Each student gets one free pass without any excuse, but if you need more time away from class than that, perhaps you might be wise to choose another course. Absences will adversely affect your grade.
