Our research program explores the interaction between psychological and biological factors involved in psychological disorders and organic disease. Our program covers basic research in psychophysiology, emotion, and psychopathology, as well as applied fields in clinical psychology and behavioral medicine.

 
   
 

We study the role of acute and chronic psychosocial stress and emotions in the etiology, maintenance, and progression of disease processes. We use findings from basic research to develop and evaluate new treatment techniques for patients with anxiety disorders or psychosocial interventions that support the medical treatment of respiratory disease.
